You might be low on the gas (R-134?). Have an a/c shop (dealer?) check it out. Too much gas or too little gas gives the same result.

 

Its not uncommon for an R-134 system to lose pressure over time. Check all your connections for evidence of leaks, the fitting will be slightly oily with surface dirt trapped with the oil.

I keep 1 of those quick fills at home to at least check 1 of the pressures to see if my system is low but if that checks out then I will take it in to a shop.

I can do quite a bit under the hood myself but admit that I don't have the full knowledge of the AC systems and willingly pay for help in that area. A system check and refill only runs $70 - $100 in my area depending on the shop so its just not worth it to me to buy gauges.

 

if the pressure is right, consider to replace the evaporator sensor along cabin area.

 

Was it very hot the day or days you tried to see if it was working? If so, try it on a cooler day. Many times the system can be overwhelmed and until it has time to cool the air down, assuming on recirc, it seems to blow hot air.

 

I mean I tried it at Night but still hot air , and I haven't been able to check the refrigerant yet with gauge set ... Also had a friend tap into the fuse with his scanner tool n you can hear the fuses clicking but not the actual compressor clutch .

 

If it works on cooler days but not hotter days.

It's overcharged.

 

Where you can do "active testing" on those expensive scanners ..
