OK, 2014 shouldn't have rust yet, even up north.

 

I don't see any Cruzes with rust perforation on subframes. This Cruze is in my bay right now, it's an 11 that's lived it's whole life on NJ shore . We've got snow, road salt, and salt air. Stuff rots out here. But Cruzes do okay. It's SUPER rare to see a frame appreciably worse off than this

 

Well, people over at the Saturn forums complain of rusted out subframes on cars not much older.

 

Okay. But that's Saturn. The NEWEST Ions are 2007s and not all vehicles corr9de the same.

 

My 2011 subframe is rusting beyond my preferences, if you’re capable of removing and storing it, might be worth it for a couple years to see, I’d be interested in buying it depending on price, mine found it’s way into a manhole and was never the same again lol

If it can be shipped by a freight hauler, it may still be worth it. I've had a couple transmissions delivered to a nearby depot where I picked them up. Even at $100 shipping, that's $200 total, it seems reasonable for a subframe.

I can drop off to a shipper as long as it doesn't have to be boxed, but with gas prices today, if you are within 1,000 miles each way, it would be cheaper to drive and pick up.

 

My Wisconsin/Minnesota lived 2011 with 183k and almost always parked outside is surprisingly clean. Some spots are starting, but nothing compared to my 2001 Silverado at the same age which was washed, garaged and babied.

The only rust I see on my daughter's '12 is along the welded seams on the rear axle and a little on the front suspension components -- but nothing major. It surprises the hell out of me, but in a good way. The body is holding up nicely.

 

I have a 2012 eco where can I get a new subframe as I will probably need one years down the road.
