LS Automatic Jerky Shifting After 2,000 Miles

I thought it was supposed to get smoother after the first few hundred miles or so? The Cruze has over 2,000 miles on it and it's still jerky. It just came back from the dealership for warranty work, so if there was a problem I would think they would have fixed it, or at least told us about it.

Is it supposed to take more than 2,000 miles to get it to shift smoother?

It is still doing it. It's ridiculous. When you buy a new car, it should work fine. I don't like this learning or adapting transmission thing.

I've also driven a 2009 Ford Focus and it hasn't had any problems like this. Is Chevy (or GM) the only company that does this?

I was reading up on the Chevy Sonic and one of the reviews commented on the shifting on that too. So, I guess if I don't like the way it works I need to stay away from Chevy's.

Well, I was just told today that it might always be this way. He said since there are two drivers that it might never change.

So, does this mean since more than one of us are driving the car that we need to deal with jerky shifting, delayed response, and RPM's getting stuck around 3,000 for several seconds when slowing down? That's crazy!

Does anyone have an idea of what I should do?

Thanks.

In manual mode, there is a set delay of I believe .5 seconds. It is what it is.

As far as jerky shifts, I don't know what people are talking about. Mine shifts smooth as butter. My car normally sees shifts between the 2-3K range though cause I'm after gas savings.

Now if this is a company car you guys are driving and you're shifting well past 3K, then yeah, I could see how it'll be a little jerky cause It's making just about peak power. Take your time and you'll see it shifts great.

The ford focus' torque sucks that why it feels smoother. ;)

It is so annoying though. And, there is a delay in automatic mode. I hate manual mode. I press up to shift at 3,000 RPM and it doesn't actually shift until after 4,000 RPM.

Also, when I'm accelerating quickly, and slowing down, because let's say a car pulls out in front of me, it will get stuck at around 3,000 - 3,500 RPM's for up to five seconds! And I hate when I hit the gas and the car jerks. It's not right. It's a new car!

And, Chevy is doing this for all of their cars now? I like Chevy, but I don't know if I can get another car that is going to have this problem.

I know there aren't a lot of complaints on here, but that's probably because there is one driver. I am driving this car along with someone else. In time there is going to be a third driver driving it too. It's probably going to be a complete mess when they start driving it.

Thanks for your reply.

Have same thing, plus
trans does not coast, constant down shifting. Car slows down as soon as foot off throttle
21 to 22 mpg with 50-50 hiway
SEVERE lag to throttle response especially when under 5 mph.. This borders on dangerous when trying to cross lanes of traffic.
I can not believe there have not been a lot more complaints with those 3 issues.
Absolutely love everything else.

Yeah, and after I press the accelerator down and lift off, sometimes it gets stuck and is reving at 3,000 RPM's or so.

I also experience the same issue when taking my foot off the gas. It feels like it's slowing down so much, almost as if the brake is on a little bit.

How is this "normal operation"? When I first read about the "adaptive transmission" or whatever it is called I got excited thinking, this 2011 Chevy Cruze is going to have the latest technology, something new! Now I'm thinking they should have left everything along. I've driven a 2009 Ford Focus and it's nothing like this. If I hit the gas, it goes, if I take my foot off the gas, it keeps going (decreasing speed slowly) and when I hit the gas there is rarely a delay.

My wife's does the same thing.

-Jerks when it shifts
-Acts like it shifts into neutral when you stop and when you go to start again in -Rolls back and then engages roughly
-Average of 23 mpg
-Now the steering wheel is randomly jerking about 1/2 inch every now and again on the interstate
-Took 3 tries to start it a couple days ago

Other than that, she loves the car. They can't seem to find anything wrong with it so we'll see.
