Metallic (pot-like) noise from the front wheels on a bumpy, uneven road

I have a 2010 Chevrolet Cruze LT 2.0 VCDi diesel: when I drive on a slightly bumpy, uneven, or gravel road, I hear a metallic noise near the front wheels (similar to the sound of a pot). I have replaced the caliper brackets, and the brakes have been changed, but the noise persists. This noise is not present when driving on a smooth road. Can you help me?

Thanks guys for all the recommendations. I got a message last night from my mechanic (and friend — so no scam!) who said the problem might be coming from the catalytic converter. What do you think about that?

A few details about my metallic noise issue: it only happens when the car is moving, and mostly on uneven or gravel roads. For example, there’s no noise when going over a speed bump, or on smooth pavement.

Just for context, I’m in France, and unfortunately Chevy Cruzes are pretty rare here. My mechanic is supposed to pick up the car tomorrow, and I’ll share your suggestions with him.

Are there any other possible causes I should check out? Sorry, but we’ve been trying to solve this annoying problem for quite a while now, and my wallet’s starting to take a hit 😅.

If anyone has actually fixed the same issue on their Chevrolet Cruze LT and can share what worked, that would be amazing.

Thanks in advance to everyone in the community! 🙏

As @jblackburn mentioned drop links. Try sitting at idle give the car a hard rev and see if there is any rattle as the revs drop, normally catalyst rattles as it drops.
Pads not too loose in carrier?
Spring not broken and broken piece sitting in suspension cup?
Struts could have lost a bit pressure and the piston may have no resistance for the first inch or so of movement. That was the issue on my Meriva and the piston could move side to side effectively causing a rattle.

Hey guys, my mechanic took my car yesterday to check the catalytic converter and the sway bar links.
While inspecting, he noticed that the brake dust shield was bent in one spot, which made it rub against the brake disc when driving on rough or gravel roads.

He tried to bend the shield back a little so it wouldn’t touch the disc anymore (just temporarily until we get a new one), and honestly, since then, the clanking/rattling noise has gotten way less frequent.

I’m really happy about that, and hopefully once the new dust shield is installed, it’ll completely fix the issue.
I’ll keep you guys posted in case the problem persists after replacing it.

According to him, there’s about an 80% chance the noise was coming from there, even though he mentioned it could also be related to the struts.

Anyway, if this helps someone else in the community, that’d be awesome.
And thanks again to everyone who replied with solid suggestions — really appreciated!
