Guess there's one advantage to having a manual transmission, that only happens to me if I turn off the car.
I was thinking when I read the title that what grinds my gears is trying to shift too fast and not getting RPMs matched between gears.

 

Can’t say it’s ever happened to me. I do tend to favor neutral and E brake this way doors stay locked.

 

It doesn't happen all the time, but in drive-thrus, I'll have my arm hanging out the window (resting over the door lock) when I pull up to pay and can't pull forward, I'll put the car in park and that **** lock mechanism pinches me good every time I forget....

Yep, a few times before I started keeping my arm off the **** door lol.

 

Never pinched me but it did poke me a few times in the arm.

As to what ground my gears - shifting too fast from 1st to 2nd in my ECO MT.

 

Came here to say this. Nothing like trying to move out into fast moving traffic only to not be able to get the car into 2nd.

I've actually gotten so used to the car auto-unlocking between both of my Cruzes that it just annoys the heck out of me when the SO's car doesn't. I get out the front door, which opens with the handle, only to find the back doors locked, just to be annoyed.

 

I miss the door locks my 99 and 02 Silverado's had. They weren't the stupid little pop-up things

 

What grinds my gear. In our 16 spark LS if I put the car in neutral or in D and I grab the handle and open it won’t open. I have to manually unlock it. On my diesel if you pull the handle it auto opens the lock on first pull then second one opens the door regardless of gear.

on The spark I can pull the handle 50x and it won’t unlock from the handle pull

 

That's strange. My 17 Cruze unlocks all the doors when you put it in park. Maybe it's part of an option package or something 🤷‍♂️
