Got my new 2017 chevy cruze redline a couple days ago. Very sharp vehicle drives great with improved rear suspension.
Unfortunately that's probably not going to happen. It would be cool but unnecessary. If they wanted a daily driver with a little more under the hood, better exhaust and tune then they wouldn't have dropped the SS. It's a sad thing but people don't really look for performance when buying GM models. It's all about functionality. If anyone is really interested in performance then they'd be going for a camaro or vette, which are and always have been affordable sports cars.Well Corporate finally figured out what we were doing and decided to make money on our likes finally. About time, now if'in they'ed just add a tune and possibly louder exhaust note...
Honestly I'm glad I hear the engine/exhaust as little as possible. It's meant to be a quiet, comfortable little city/highway car, and it does that quite well. It's a very refined, quiet engine, and it's got some mid-range pep to it, but it doesn't make pleasing noises when it revs, just like most 4-bangers.Well Corporate finally figured out what we were doing and decided to make money on our likes finally. They're trying to justify still having Buick around (Regal was the only one really worth buying, but it's ancient now)...or force people into a Cadillac ATS/CTS (bleh). If anyone is really interested in performance then they'd be going for a camaro or vette, which are and always have been affordable sports cars.

Yep, the price of the Cruze SS would exceed what people would pay for a Chevy. Reason you have those upper trims like Lincoln, Cadillac, Chrysler, Lexus, Acura, Infinity and beyond. The price of a 1.4 RS Premier hatch here exceeds $31k USD already. Now toss an engine, wheels, unique interior trim and brakes and that price tag is...? Last gen did have a tune & exhaust upgrade but the price was kinda up there for so little gain that could be had by the vendors of CT. In the end you were just paying for a name, and warranty.Honestly I'm glad I hear the engine/exhaust as little as possible. If the Focus ST, WRX, Elantra Sport, and GTI can be priced in the 23-25K range (before options), GM could very well throw something together. The loaded-up versions of the plain jane Golf and Focus can get quite pricey as well.Yep, the price of the Cruze SS would exceed what people would pay for a Chevy. The ATS already deleted the 2.5 from the online and starts at $35,590. Dealers here will not order a Plane Jane ATS so tack on $1000 for AWD, $70 for nitrogen filled tires, $400 in tint, $280 for a pinstripe, $400 for floor mats, $1000 for a grille and $700 for a painted lip spoiler to sit on top the already built in CHMSL lip spoiler. If the Focus ST, WRX, Elantra Sport, and GTI can be priced in the 23-25K range (before options), GM could very well throw something together. Their marketing department probably just won't let them. "Well, then we'd sell less ATS's."
Totally agree here, cost isn't the issue, it's that GM has too many brands and 1 SS sedan could impede sales of 2 other brands. If the Focus ST, WRX, Elantra Sport, and GTI can be priced in the 23-25K range (before options), GM could very well throw something together. If you think the regal was the only buick worth buying then your insane. Buick is one of the best make they have. Have you sat in a 17 lacrosse?Honestly I'm glad I hear the engine/exhaust as little as possible. I have less than zero desire to own or even consider a full-size sedan. Nor does most of America - one of the slowest-selling segments in the auto industry. If you think the regal was the only buick worth buying then your insane. Buick is one of the best make they have. I'm excited to see the new regal as well but in what world does GM ever have to compete with subaru? It's like comparing an elephant to an ant you know?Big sedans are not popular only because of the SUV, CUV craze and cheap gas prices. A take a large sedan any day over CUV/SUV. . I don't need anything that large so I didn't buy a Impala. However the new regal tour x is very interesting to me. It can haul plenty of stuff. You can actually put stuff on the roof without a ladder. I'm sure it can tow my seadoo and ATV trailer without a issue. I looked at the midsize twins but i'm not truck person. If buick positions this right it will give subaru some competition.
