While changing my oil, I found a black small O-ring inside my oil filter housing. it doesn’t appear to have come off of the standpipe or the anti-drain back valve.

Wondering if it may have come up this way from the engine block or it possibly was inside my oil filter when I installed it?

Any input is appreciated because I don’t necessarily want to change the whole cooler assembly.

*Photos of removed cooler are from a second cooler I have laying around.

That’s the o-ring that WIX/NAPA Gold filters have in a groove (wish I had a pic) on the top end of the filter. The Mobil 1 filter had it as well IIRC.

I’ve Never had one come out loose like that though.

FYI: they changed the cartridge design recently and that o-ring was replaced by a felt seal that’s ultrasonic welded to the top of the cartridge

What year Cruze bro I got a 2015 with 94k miles just wanna know if this may ever happen to me

111k on mine, I looked - the 2017 takes the same cartridge. NAPA 100331 - the felt shown on the end in this pic replaced the o-ring that was installed in a groove in the plastic cap of the filter

That's odd because my sisters 2017 uses a PF64 cannister filter.
