I currently own a 2011 Cruze with the 1.8l 130,000miles. I noticed oil in the coolant reservoir and that my coolant lines were being eaten by this mixture. I changed the oil cooler gaskets, replaced any and all of the coolant lines, flushed multiply times and was running fine. There is no coolant in the oil just vice versa. Since then I have driven it 300 miles and I noticed a coolant leak so I checked it out. Again oil in the coolant reservoir. I have read about blown head gasket, it is not smoking, overheating, no coolant in the oil. I am confused and do not know where to go from here. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

Head gasket is most likely, though I have a 1996 Saturn SL1, SOHC engine. They had an issue with some of those, mine was not affected fortunately.. but that issue was casting defect that caused a small crack in the bearing for the camshaft that allowed pressurized oil to enter the coolant. A bizarre thing indeed... the correction was a new head, and they had a procedure to clean the coolant that believe it or not, involved use of dishwashing soap for cleaning the oil from the coolant system.. In your case, once you find and stop the leak, you might want to look into something similar to get any oil out of the cooling system.

If I recall correctly, the Saturn cleaning procedure used dishwasher, as in automatic dishwasher, soap. Powder even. I guess Dawn might work also. I think the automatic stuff is easier to flush it from the system when you are done.
