PS: Your Cruze seems pretty 'new', congratulations.

Lose the engine top 'EcoTec' lid, unless for show, sale or technical inspection, as it helps saving some ignition coils from untimely failure.
Just spray some black paint on top of the ignis module brown epoxy and it's not an ugly sight anymore.
View attachment 302612 Just my two cents ;)
Those photos are not of my car. I do have the plastic cover on the engine. So ur saying it's better to take that off? I took off the metal shield over the exhaust. I figure it gets the heat in and on the turbo oil line.

I know EXACTLY what your problem is. I have a new unit in my hand.. pulled the clip and then spent 15 minutes trying to get the clip back in! Its so stupid...ly simple. You need to come at the 2 slots, rotating the insertion by 90 degrees. You will never get it in by coming at it, the wrong location/angle. Also pay careful attention to the o ring gasket... if you PULL the 1 inch plastic piece out, 50percent chance the o ring will slide out and drop the ground (engine well!). You loose this your screwed.

That should not be happening... so, either the o-ring is on the 'upper floor' (inside the groove, not bellow where it belongs), or its thickness is excessive AFAIK .
EDIT: Turns out it was a redesign thing, sorry!

After some use it 'squares' and should be replaced whenever it either leaks or disassembled.

CN guys (biggest Cruze fleet in the World) even now provide slightly thicker white silicone o-rings to compensate for t outlet many plastic enlarging under heat +pressure!

Anyhow remember to press down the nipple onto the H20 outlet (compressing the o-ring) while trying to insert the clip 'thingy'.

Hope it helps :D

Is that a "before" picture? Because it looks about right to me.

Did you replace the water outlet? If so, you may need to replace that hose as well. Apparently they were redesigned at some point.
It's a 2016. I replaced outlet. It broke off a chunk. New nipple came with new part but I can't get either nipple to lock with clamp. Or with or without O ring.
