Are you saying all I need is a screwdriver instead of that super expensive tool? En-49979 Crankshaft Shock Mount Retainer. They want $300 for it SMH
Getting ready to tackle this on my daughter's Cruze. I have seen this tool for $55 as the least expensive so far but kinda don't want to drop that much as I am not looking forward to having ANOTHER tool in the toolbox that may never get used again. Saw a video that the guy just rattled it down with the impact and never really verified torque.

I plan to replace the bolt but that is just me. Depending on the application I have re-used TTY bolts on other cars. It will work provided you don't torque the holy hell out of it. I was told by an Audi tech that the "REPLACE EVERY TIME" bolts don't always need to get replaced. Techs will replace them when the manual says to replace for warranty reasons. Should the 1 in 1,000 times it fails when re-used and the book said to replace it then its a big warranty problem. Very critical when you have higher dollar repairs that the shop might need to eat on a warranty repair.

Sooo..I somehow messed up the install of the harmonic balancer, and now it is stuck. I reinstalled the balancer, but must not have had it seated 100% properly, and put on the crankshaft bolt. However, the balancer is sticking out about 7cm and not seated against the block. I noticed this during the belt install, since the tensioner was not aligned with the harmonic balancer.

I tried pulling the balancer off, but it is really stuck on there. I picked up an OEM tools 25090 balancer puller and tried using that, but no success. Most likely the balancer did not seat properly with the oil pump spline. I'm hoping I didn't do any damage to the oil pump / crankshaft. Any tips on how to proceed?
