Between the Encore and the Trax you should be able to parts bin this arrangement……cash and time required but the engineering has already been done.

Not me. I just can't stand Subarus.

 

For any reasons? I personally love the impreza model and the crosstrek has grown on me, but I know people on both sides of the spectrum. The impreza line is the only awd compact on the market for under 25k so it gets points with me there.

 

Besides my engine situation turning my DD into a project car, my hate is marketing and the STi AWD not being available in top models of all the cars. How hard is a front and rear LSD? I kinda like the crosstrek but I want a turbo or a 3.6 in it.

Either way I say encore and a 2.0 swap if money is to blow. What small cars can the the CTS V Sport engine fit in? That's my bucket list car.

 

IMHO the pinnacle of Cruze drivetrain mods would be a diesel/manual/AWD. But the 3.6 Impala engine might even more wicked.

 

It could be done with enough $$$$$$$$$$ like anything else. But it would also cut some power out of the engines output.

right, why not just buy something closer to what you want to begin with? AWD regal 2.0T comes to mind.
