Update: The Chevy senior advisor called me on 8/4/17 (Friday) and told me she would get back to me on Tuesday (8/8/17) whether they can help me out with this repair. I went ahead and left a voice message today(8/8/17).

My Car has been repaired:

Background: 2011, LS (1.8 engine). P0601, p0700 codes. 57k miles, still drive-able, (had to clear codes to get it out of limp mode. It started to throw the codes more frequently).

Outcome: It took about 18 days from start to finish to get my car repaired with a TCM replacement. A very frustrating and cumbersome ordeal with a good ending (TCM covered under my emissions warranty). Between the dealer and the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center, they finally figured out my TCM was covered.

I have attached the dealer invoice (with part numbers) and my emissions warranty from my manual.

Hi ezurc1@u,

Your issue with your cruze sounds exactly like what is happening with my malibu right now. I have gotten as far as a faulty TCM being the diagnosis from the dealer. I haven't heard of the TCM being under an emission warranty until now. Is this just a California thing or is it nationwide?

Hi,
I'm new to the site. I have searched for these codes on the site, but there doesn't seem to be a thread to match my situation.
I have a 2011 Cruze LS, 1.8 engine, 56k miles. Sometimes when I start the car, I turned the key to start the engine and the CEL comes on with the following:
------------------
P0601: Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error
Pending Fault Log
------------------
P0700: Transmission Control System (MIL Request).
----------------
I cleared the codes and it drives fine for a few days(I have a simple OBDII code reader)
Sometimes I have noticed that my needle in the cluster flickers around slightly when I insert the key and start to turn it, and when the engine starts, the CEL turns on. The "needle flickering" does not always happen in order for it to throw the codes. It has been throwing the codes about once or twice a week. Has anyone experience this? Thanks.
I’m getting those same 2 codes & it’s causing my 2011 1.4 turbo to go in limp mode when the check engine lights on so I took it to Chevrolet and they said I had a list of problems like bad ecm ,turbo ..crank seal ..transmission internal control issue & oil cooler but why did I only get those 2 codes I’m at 132 thousand miles

Do transmission wires touch a hotspot on the engine? The Cobalt has an issue were transmission wires touch an engine hotspot and it melts through the wire housing after a period of time. It causes the wire to end up grounding and ends up throwing a p0700.
