Ending my lease two months early. Tomorrow I ll be dropping it off and picking up a 2014 Subaru Legacy for my wife.(also have an Outback with 75K and never back for anything as I maintain my own cars). Let me first say thanks to everyone who participates and runs this site. I belong to several brand specific sites and have enjoyed this one. My car was a 2011 cruze and I put about 37K miles on it. It was a nice car to drive and got very good gas mileage. Not really good for my type of winter driving but I managed. Here s why I will not get another Cruze or GM for that matter. I have owned many many GM sport trucks, Corvettes, Mailbu, Cobalt, and the list goes on. But many of you know about the anti freeze smell that the Cruze has issue with that has not been resolved. I have been back to the dealer, made inquires and complaints to GM and all have proved useless. GM forgot about customer service on ALL levels and so I will vote my displeasure by opting out of buying GM again. A side point/ last year I was searching for a sports car as a Sunday driver and while the new vette did get my attention, I would not go there due to my experience with the Cruze and more so the lack of customer concern. So I bought a used 911 instead of a new Vette. I am a true car guy and while I understand that all brands have issues, it s the way they are resolved that makes a repeat customer. Wake up GM. Its apparent to me that maybe they should have went out of business instead of being rescued by the government. Happy motoring :deg:.

Good luck with your Subaru and sorry to hear your dealer did not escalate this issue straight into GM. And fight for you.

There are bad apples in every batch. My BMW has a huge brake recall and some have had major transmission failure (2013 model)

My Acura TLs transmission was about to blow and it was a fairly new car. Guess what i am trying to say is...No automaker is immune to bad cars in a big batch of thousands and thousands and thousands...

-I'm mobile-
I second that. My 2nd to last Mercedes blew a head gasket at 45K miles and my wife's last car(Elantra) had electrical gremlins that would give most people nightmares. But that said, there are two brands which everyone can agree are rolling mechanical disasters...Jaguar and Land Rover.

Well ain't that something. My GM is running fine and my Subaru refuses to stay on the road. Sorry you had horrible dealership experiences repeatedly for a well known issue with a solution(well before selling the car). Hope you have less eventful dealer service issues with your Subarus. Best Subaru dealership is gonna be Cherry Hill hands down because it's down the street from SoA headquarters.

Ha, in my 60 years of vehicle ownership, will never buy a GM, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Studebaker, Kaiser, Hudson, etc, ever again. Never owned a South Korean vehicle yet, should, so I could add them to my list of what not to buy.

All have good and bad years. All are outsourcing today from many different vendors. Not much different than going to Las Vegas, could be lucky or leave dead broke. Did put on 330K fairly trouble free miles on my 65 Buick, still a good runner when I sold it, but couldn't deal with the rust anymore. Interior still looked like new. Just saying that GM did know how to build a good car, at least once.

Your statement in BOLD is one that needs to be delivered to the top of GM's ladder and enforced from there-on down, but unfortunately we as the customer are at the mercy of privately owned dealerships who seem to refuse to believe that customer service should be their #1 priority. True, GM Engineering should be all over this coolant issue (issues, actually), but when it comes right down to it the dealership is the face of GM we deal with. If the dealer fails, GM loses a customer. Sometimes permanently.

I don't blame you one bit for turning your Cruze in. The sad part is, the new owner of that car will be on this forum looking for a solution to that same smell issue. That single car could cost GM several customers during its lifespan.

Enjoy the Porsche, but if you went Porsche shopping with Corvette money don't expect it to beat a C7. :)

Don't Jaguars come with a jump seat for the mechanic? :)

I'm truly sorry you're having all that trouble with your Cruze and I understand your reason for wanting to get out of it as quickly as possible. On the other side of that coin you take a person like myself. I am now 49 years old and ever since I started driving I have been driving nothing but GM products. I did have the occasional Volkswagen, Toyota, and Mercedes(300D) thrown in there. I can honestly say I've never had any major problems with any of the GM products I have chosen to drive over the time I have been licensed. Pretty much just basic maintenance issues and the regular things that go along with that. Even the 2012 Cruze Eco I have now in the beginning had a few minor issues that the dealership corrected immediately and I now have 65000 miles on it and the car has been absolutely fantastic. I know the Subarus are really fantastic vehicles and very well engineered. That's a great car to get. When my Cruze has been in the shop I got a Subaru Legacy GT as a loaner and I enjoyed driving it. The people who own my local Chevrolet dealership also on a Subaru dealership.
