So here is the deal.....
I ordered my 14 Cruze ECO M6 a little while back. It came in on Wednesday the 2nd. I was told it would be either Friday or Monday before I could take delivery of the car..... waiting on paperwork. Well it arrived today. No one called to let me know. Real professional. So late in the day I made the call to the dealer and was told yes the paperwork bis here and ready to go........ BUT we cant release it to you.
So I asked why. The service department manager tells me there is a recall that JUST CAME OUT. He had no Idea of what it is about. So I made phone call after phone call. Doing his homework for him. Come to find out it is being recalled for the half shaft issue from a month ago. Wouldn't this have been fixed already? ???
Anyway.... so he tells me that ALL 1.4L M6 (yes all 1.4L M6) cars are on hold and they can not sell or release them. He has no idea when it will be fixed or what to fix. I told him what I found out...... FOR HIM.
Hope he gets off his @$$ and figures it out. How can you be a service department manager and have no clue as to a recall thats a month old. ...... and my car is being held for it!!!!!!
Customer service. .... what can you do for me???????????
You have all my info...... we have talked a time or two in PM.

(end rant........)

We had heard rumors that the ECO MTs were on a hold for some reason. This is the first confirmation of this.

Jackie, can you shake more information loose on this?

When I checked the NHTSA site (www.safercar.gov) there is no recall for this listed. Nor have I received an email from the NHTSA about a recall. If you notice what I found is a PI, which is a "Preliminary Information" bulliten. GM is still trying to figure out what's going on. Since this apparently affects all 1.4T Manuals I'm not sure why it has lead to a delivery hold unless GM has found the problem and is preparing to issue a recall and doesn't want to have to notify people who literally just bought their Cruze. When GM did this with the engine shield hack recall they took a lot of heat for releasing cars and then immediately recalling them and at least two dealerships were investigated by the NHTSA for delivering cars after the recall was official but without hacking the shield.

Would you rather they made sure that your new car was worthy of your ownership - or would have you have preferred they sold you something that wasn't 100% confirmed?

This.

zerogravity- I understand how long you must have waited, and the frustration. But the fact that they caught a recall before giving it to you, is very responsible of them. I would also be mad that the manager does not know what it is, but i would be glad that my Cruze was given to me 100% complete, and not with a recall, of which i would need to take away my own valuable time and take it into service.

Patience is key my friend :) good things happen to those that wait!

The fact that there is a recall on it does not bother me. You will notice my rant or vent, was directed towards the service department manager. His incompetence showed. However, I just got off the phone with the dealership's General Manager. He claims to have done the research h on this in the past 24 hours. So what he tells me, the message came out in early September. My car was built well after the message came out, so the fix was applied. He said there is a list of VIN's, and my car was not in the sequence. So, he claims he can put me in the car today, and I will be able to take possession of it. We will see...... there is a stop delivery notice out there..... Although I am not affected, rules are rules. It looks to me like the General Manager cares more than the service department manager. After all, this is the General Managers second week on the job. The last one got let go. ***NOTE*** my build date is 11 September 2014. If any one has a build date prior to this I would look into it, and NOT depend on my service department. I am being told the recall is for the Axle Half Shaft. I guess my car has the "new one".....

If you've ever worked as a manager you know that half your time is spent keeping your employees in line, being productive and turning up for work.

The other half of your time is spent doing the job you thought you were being hired for.

All the insults are completely unneccessary. Dealers recieved notice of a potential stop delivery on CERTAIN models. For example my dealership was given the demand on one particular cruze out of the 6 we have here on the lot over a month ago so thats the only one we cant deliver, and we still havent been notified as to why. The actual reason for the stop delivery was JUST released until then even the dealers had no clue.

All we know at dealerships is what GM tells us. There has been a stop delivery on CERTAIN Eco 6M models however not all, we recieved specific invoices for non delivery. However GM only recently released information as to why. And officially there HAS NOT been an actual recall. so until GM sorts it all out our hands on what to do as dealers are tied.

tracepk, can you enlighten us as to why some Cruze have a stop delivery on them?

I feel for you & you haven't been able to pick up your car yet. Many recalls for this vehicle. The latest is as follows. Chevrolet nearly six years to get its Cobalt line right and when they finally did get front-drive subcompact in good shape, they replaced it with the Chevy Cruze. The Chevy Cruze is a very nice replacement vehicle, but that’s not to say it doesn’t come with the usual trail of problems that new cars have, which are selling well. For example, there are times when a noise or shimmy will mysteriously appear in the front end of the sleek Cruze, whose lines flow up and away from a narrow front cross-section.
It’s one of those crazy things that no one can seem to find and it’s probably something as weird as a slightly out-of-round half-shaft, on the front-drive automatic Cruze which is available in six different model lines from the LS to the LTX and Hybrid.
It might be the auto-closing manifold barrier that presents a smooth shape to the wind.
Or it might just be a serpentine belt that is slipping slightly. It’s one of those items that no one can seem to diagnose and which keeps a nice experience from becoming a better one.

It's very obvious the zerogravity wants his car and GM won't release it to him. It must be very frustrating to buy a brand new car that you cannot have. Any chance we could get Jackie or Erica Tiffany involved in this? If its just a half shaft why can't they just replaced the **** shaft and let the car go?

zerogravity,

I know you spoke with the dealership today, any update? Your service manager was gone by the time I saw this post. I am really sorry you are having this concern but I will look into this so we can see what is going on. I will private message you once I speak with him.

They gotta have that new blessed by the hand of god part in stock to fix the issue at hand today. If they have to order it, then it's gonna be a while. I actually lucked out with the 2 shot actuator when they had it in stock. Same goes for my local dealership when I asked them for a EJ257 short block, who keeps short blocks on hand?

Better to wait a couple of extra days to make sure everything is sorted out rather than taking delivery of vehicle only to take it back after you discover something is wrong.

The service writer was doing the right thing on notifying you of the possible issue. Unfortunately in most business it takes an effort in talking to some additional resources to make sure all of the information being communicated is correct.

They released the car to me today. The new general manager for the dealership made some calls. The recall will effect 1.4L T's M6 within a certain production period. Mine was built on September 11th, and the defective parts were pulled off the assembly line before my build. Not sure what the starting magic sequence number for the effective cars is or I would tell you guys. I tried to get more info from him but he wouldn't budge. They have not sold a 1.4L M6 at that dealership in over 6 months. They just dont order them. So they were not too concerned with digging too dewp. I think both he and I were more than happy with the tid bit of info we got.

I am not trying to be insulting but this is the same dealership that took my 1 month old sonic in for warranty work..... and had it for over 30 calendar days. They are incompetent. That 30 days they had my 1 month old car, cost GM. Thwy had to do a full buy back on it. It fell into the GA lemon law criteria. Because they had to buy back my car and apply heavy incentives I had to deal with them again. But in the end I am happy with what I got out of it. And have better faith in GM..... just not that particular dealership. I started this fight with them back in May. It is now October. I was well past my breaking point and was tired of one more reason why it was not over.
