Hey guys,

Just picked up a 2016 Cruze Limited and i'm loving it but right from the get go I've noticed that when the car is in a stopped position at a light or whatnot, or when in park, that it makes almost like a knocking sound coming from the engine. The best way to describe it is to picture your exhaust pipe knocking against your floor when at a red light or something. Is this sound normal for the Cruzes or should I bring it in?

Once I start driving past 20 kms/hr, the sound goes away. Can only be heard from the interior of the car. From the outside, there's no noise or knocking or anything.

Automatic transmission.

Is is "knocking" or ticking. The EcoTec engine line is sometimes referred to as EcoTick because these engines can be rather noisy at idle.

I don't notice it in my car, but it's very definitely loud under the hood.

So none of you notice that the engine sounds louder when at idle or in a parked position? (While sitting inside the car)

I emailed my sales guy to arrange me sitting in another 2016 cruze to see if it does the same noise. I realize I'm pretty ocd with car noises and tend to notice things that others may not have caught on to. lol :(

Make sure its another LS with the same transmission (Manual or Automatic). The LT and higher trims have a different engine. The 1.4T engine is definitely quieter than the 1.8 in your LS.

The two transmissions do sound different at idle. From the little time I've been in an automatic I felt it was louder than my manual.

all engine/trans combonations i have sat in are loud. I sometimes feel my 2lt is broken, but then i remember that i just sit in a freight train when the car is at idle. totally normal. You are hearing a combonation of loud/noisey tranmissions and loud ticking fuel injectors. try sitting in the car running, and put the car in nuetral see if it gets better.

Yeah just I took the car on a 3 hour drive to Toronto and it just seems to me like the Engine/exhaust simply sound louder (from the interior of the car) than other Chevs I've owned. Really no big deal whatsoever. Just one of those things that my mind will adjust to lol. On a side note, to give you all an idea of how OCD I am, I noticed that my rear bumper on the passenger side sticks out half an inch more than the driver side lol, fml..
