My Chevy Sonic has been sitting for a month because I'm intimidated by this project. What are the difficult parts of doing this? Most of the stuff removed on the top of the manifold is self explanatory, but it looks like there's at least a couple things underneath it? I look at the new manifold and it has 2 fittings underneath that are close to the passenger side and don't look completely horrible. There is another 1 that is basically directly under the manifold though. How bad is it getting to that?

I look at the new manifold and it has 2 barbs underneath, for little vacuum hoses. I look at the car and don't see them at all, they're really far under there. How do you get channel locks or pliers onto the hose clamps to remove those hoses?

This is really not difficult. As long as you are more of a Bruce Banner and not the Hulk, you will have no problems. Sometimes the green hose is a bit of a pain, but not that much. Remember most of this stuff is plastic, so no excessive force. If you have specific questions, take a picture of whatever it is and post it.

When you remove the bolts and topside stuff from the manifold, you will be able to move it around a bit to access those hoses.

I was intimidated too and I am comfortable around cars and DIY. Took me about 6 hours the first time and I broke the plastic nipple off the bottom connector, that includes a trip to the dealer for a replacement.

Good god. Replaced the valve cover and did the pcv fix. Everything going smooth, besides the filth from my dirt road, was putting the corugated hose back on and launched the retaining clip into my yard like an idiot. Then a thunder storm rolled in so I can't look for it. Thanks for this fantastic guide though. Really helped.

What did you guys do about the fuel rail? I don't want to remove the individual injectors while its in the car. So I need a fuel line disconnect tool to disconnect the line from the rail? Then it just comes out attached to the intake? I heard from a friend of mine that I need to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the car til it dies, then disconnect or else its going to leak? Is it going to leak even after doing that?

Use an (hot as hell) hair dryer or electric heat gun for all kinds of stubborn connectors including electrical👺

I need help as the barb fitting came off from the manifold side. I looked up that part number but nothing is there.

Did it break off? If so, I epoxied mine back on - carefully. If not, post a picture.

everything is good i was emailing the guy who made the kit while doing all this since mine fell off and couldnt do whatever i took of the manifold and did it with the screw from an earlier version(he told me which screw and washer to get). even though it said to wait, after i got everything but back together i wanted to make sure the car at least started okay(which it did)and after 15 hours i checked the screw itself inside and its hard as a rock and had no codes during my drive yesterday and felt some acceleration came back also but not sure on some mpg gain.

I want to add now that I've done this 3 times. (2 Cruzes) The injecector connectors, the one under the intake, and almost all with a metal clip...Just sqeeze them, don't remove. The only one I know that you pull the metal pin out of is the PCV hose that goes to the turbo.
Always replace the intake gasket. I had a boost leak through it. Had to do it twice, $25 Felpro at Auto Zone. Brass check valve still good at 20k miles, cleaned it anyway. Highly recommend Andrei's boost test/coolant leak kit.
Don't be afraid to pull the intake, not hard.
